DanBets Thursday’s Betting Preview
Sun Cloud Forecast For Catterick!
The rain has been falling heavily in Yorkshire since the late afternoon the Thursday Catterick card has to survive a morning inspection. If it does the ground will be very testing. I hope it does go ahead as the days feature race NORTH YORKSHIRE GRAND NATIONAL HANDICAP CHASE over 3M 6F looks very competitive. There is also all weather racing at Southwell and Wolverhampton and of course the first day of the Dubai Spring Carnival at Meydan.
Our two bets in the UK are from Catterick and Wolverhampton and we also will be giving you a brief preview of some of the races that offer betting opportunities on the meydan card.
Here at Danbets we will be doing sectional times at Meydan, like we did last year, which will hopefully lead to some nice winners over the coming weeks of the Carnival.
2:25 – If the racing does go ahead this looks a really good staying handicap. Last year’s winner Chac Du Cadran is only 3lbs higher than when winning the race last year, ground will suit but he hasn’t been in the same sort of form in his two runs this season. The stable has also had a virus in the yard so has not been going well but there has been some early money for him so someone expects a better performance. Those who got the 12/1 that was available when the bookies opened up their markets are sitting on a value bet but at best priced 13/2 the value has gone. Merlin’s Wish has improved for a stamina trip and heavy ground, up in class today but with ground in his favour he can go well. Mister Marker trained by Nicky Richards has had his training problems but ran well in his two races last season including a really good third in the Scottish Grand National, on that run he looked the sort who could win a nice staying handicap this year if he kept sound. He made a promising seasonal reappearance at Carlisle to finish second on heavy ground but was pulled up at Newcastle on good ground over an inadequate 3 miles. With ground and trip in his favour he will run much better today, encouragingly his stable had a winner at Doncaster yesterday. Finally, we have Sun Cloud who looked much improved when winning at Hexham last time out over 23 furlongs. He steps up in trip today, he has placed form at 3M 3F over hurdles, so the trip shouldn’t be a problem nor should the ground as he likes it soft. Still unexposed over the big obstacles, this will be only his 5th race in the sphere, and with his stable in fine form (7 win from 19 runs in the last 14 days) he looks the won to beat. Mister Marker at 10/1 with William Hill looks to big a price to me but Sun Cloud also still looks worth a saver at 5/1 with Bet365
Betting Advice – 1pt win – Mister Marker – 10/1 @ William Hill (BOG) and 1pt win - Sun Cloud – 5/1 @ Bet365 (BOG)
4:40 – Hilali trained by Gary Brown look very overpriced at around the 12/1 mark the selection was a winner at Kempton last February and returns to the all weather on a 2lb lower mark after three poor runs on the turf. This is his first run since October but he won the Kempton race after a similar break so I doubt fitness will be a problem. The trainer has booked George Baker for the ride and a tongue tie is added for the first time, he drops a furlong in trip today but did win over a mile in 2012 under George Baker. He looks a great value bet to me grab the 12s!
Betting Advice – 2pt win - Hilali – 12/1 @ Bet365, BetVictor (BOG), SkyBet (BOG)
Staked – 4pts
